GB Team Announcement and adidas Kit Launch

On the 26th January, the team headed to Somerset House in Central London where the British Olympic Association announced the Team for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

It was our first chance for us to pose in our Team GB adidas Olympic Winter Kit.  

 

Europa Cup Win

Team Minichiello stood on top of the podium once more as they took gold in the Europa Cup race at St Moritz on  the 21st January. Due to missing two World Cup races while Nic was receiving treatment for her eye, the team squeezed in the Europa Cup as an extra race to give them all important points to improve their ranking going into the Olympics. Sitting in 3rd behind the two German teams after the first run the girls put in a brilliant second run to move into the lead, eventually taking gold by 0.08 seconds ahead of Schneiderheinze-Stöckel of Germany.

 

8th For Team Minichiello in Lake Placid

Team Minichiello continued their World Cup campaign with an 8th place finish in Lake Placid, the second venue on the 2009/2010 circuit.The team are currently in 9th position in the World Cup rankings and, with the points gap to the teams above so narrow, a good result i the next race of the World Cup series in Cesana, Italy could see Team Minichiello climb the rankings significantly.

  

Team Minichiello 7th in Opening World Cup Race  

Team Minichiello finished 7th in the opening race of the 2009/2010 season. Lying in 7th place after the first run they held their position after the second run to finish two hundredths clear of Switzerland 1 and just five hundredths off 4th place in what was an incredibly tight race. The result places the team two positions higher than the opening race of the 2008/2009 season where they finished 9th in Winterberg.

Team Minichiello Back on the Ice!

Team Minichiello are back on ice for the first time since the World Championships in February. Back on the Lake Placid track where they secured their historic victory, the team have started pre-season training and will spend 11 days in Lake Placid before heading to Whistler for International Training on the Olympic track.

Team Minichiello Announced for Season 2009 / 2010

Following trials in Bath, UK and Oberhof, Germany, the athletes representing Team Minichiello as GB1 on the World Cup Circuit for season 2009 / 2010 were named as Nicola Minichiello as driver with Gillian Cooke and Fiona Harrison as brakewomen. The team will make their first competitive outing of the season in November.

 

Team Minichiello Send Off Party

Team Minichiello celebrated with friends, family, sponsors and supporters at a send off party hosted at IrwinMitchell, Sheffield on Friday 2nd October.

Bringing the whole Team Minichiello support network together before the ‘On Ice’ team head off to begin training and racing overseas, it was a fantastic evening marked by a rousing speech from Nicola, celebrating the successes of the past 12 months and looking ahead to the coming season.
