Sarah McDowell - Physio

 

Sarah's role as team physiotherapist is to keep us all in one piece throughout the rigours of the World Cup circuit and 2010 Olympic Games being held in Vancouver.

Sarah's main role in the U.K. is at the Northern Police Treatment Centre at St Andrews in Harrogate, delivering residential intensive rehabilitation for patients with varied conditions such as mechanical back pain, acl reconstructions, fractured ankles and polytrauma.  Her work includes pilates, hydrotherapy, gymball classes, lower limb and back classes, 1to1 treatments including soft tissue work, mobilisations and exercise prescription.

Sarah also works part time as part of Alison Rose's team at Carnegie Sport Physio Clinic in Leeds where she has worked for the past three years. Her work at Carnegie involves service provision for TASS athletes, GB racewalking and treatment of athletes from a variety of sports from recreational to international standard.

Before working for the Northern Police Treatment Centre, Sarah worked in the NHS for 4 and a half years and worked part time at Leeds University Clinic for three years as Performance Sports Physio where she worked mainly with TASS athletes and rugby union.

Additionally, Sarah is a fully qualified pilates and fitness instructor and, prior to training as a physio, obtained a BSc Hons in Sports Science from Leeds University.

Her primary interests are snow boarding, mountain biking, water sports and squash. She also enjoys travelling and cooking.
