Race Report - World Cup 3 Igls
World Cup Race 3 – Igls, Austria
Team Minichiello/Cooke
Team Minichiello had their best result of the 2008/09 season so far, finishing in 6th place in Igls Austria on Friday 12th December. After the first heat the team was tied with Germany 2 for 5th position, only 22 hundredths off the lead. A slide out of corner nine had cost some speed and time so there was scope for improvement on the second run. The start on the first heat was the 4th fastest of the run, eight hundredths from the best start.
On the second run GB1 , although having an improved run, missed out on 5th place by only four hundredths from Germany 2 who also had a much improved run. The second start, although one hundredth quicker than in the first heat, was the 6th fastest start of the second heat, one tenth from the best start.
Overall it was another step closer to the podium and a great improvement in our starting position. The team has moved into 8th position in the World Cup rankings, only 24 points from 6th position and are looking forward to moving up the positions in the next World Cup race in Cesana, Italy.
